In 1998, the Oregon Volunteer Ambulance Association chose to merge into the Oregon Volunteer Firefighters Association. Since that time, we have worked to represent the interests of Oregon's volunteer ambulance and EMS agencies in addition to the fire agencies we already worked with
We accomplished this through offering EMS classes at our annual conference, special outreach classes (PHTLS, Farm Rescue), and by working with the Oregon legislation, Area Health Education Centers and the Office of Rural Health on funding issues for EMT training and continuing education. Members of our association sit on the EMT Advisory Council, a sub-committee of the Board of Medical Examiners, as well as the State EMS Conference committee.
OVFA is also a member of both the Oregon State Ambulance Association (email: staff@oregonambulance.org) and the Oregon Fire Medical Administrators Association. By our attendance at these association meetings, we represent your interests and keep abreast of funding issues for ambulance transports. We also participate in the EMS Award Committee for the Department of Human Services, EMS and Trauma Section. EMS agencies that are members of the OVFA have all the rights and benefits of their fire service counterparts.
We value your input and suggestions on how the OVFA can better represent your interests. Please click here to contact OVFA staff.
